CIP Level 2 focuses on advanced inspection techniques and specialized application for both steel and non-steel substrates. The course explains in-depth coverage of surface preparation, coating types, inspection criteria, and failure modes for various coatings including specialized coatings and linings. The course concludes with both written and practical exams.

Pre-requisites

Successful completion of CIP Level 1 classroom training or CIP Exam Course 1 is required to register for CIP Level 2.

DAVID HENNERBICHLER

A versatile, results oriented Quality Assurance Advisor with hands-on experience in heavy oil thermal recovery which included his duties as Vessel, Coating, and Owners Inspector responsible for writing all vessel repair procedures and coating specifications. Previous experience includes Plant Chief Steam Engineer.

He graduated in 1976, Grade XII Senior Matriculation, Second Class Power Engineer Alberta #1870 (Certified Engineering Technician (ASET); NACE/SSPC Certified Coating Inspector#5057.

He is currently an Instructor for Coating Inspector Program, Internal Corrosion Instructor, Cathodic Protection in Conjunction with Coatings Instructor, Protective Coating Specialist ( NACE and SSPC), Senior Corrosion Technologist, Cathodic Protection Technologist, Internal corrosion technologist, Successful Coating and Lining of Concrete, Basic Corrosion, Coatings and Linings, Basic Cathodic Protection.

He is API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector, API653 Tank Inspector, API 570 Pressure Piping Inspector Certified.

As a Corrosion Specialist for Imperial Oil Resources, he provides supply corrosion direction for several properties and as a Coating Specialist he supplies specification coating selection as well as lab testing and failure analysis. Sits on Exxon Mobil international corrosion network and provides direction and guidance on pipeline intergrity risk assessment as well as corrosion management and mitigation.

He is Quality Assurance Advisor for Cold Lake Operations, a large heavy oil thermal recovery project, his duties include senior vessel inspector, core member of corrosion team, coating inspector, and owner’s inspector for all code work and he is responsible for writing all vessel repair procedures, as well as ensuring they are executed as specified, responsible for writing all coating specifications, as well as inspecting the ongoing application, utilize SAP along with risk based techniques for vessel inspection and documentation.
